Neurodynamics & Neuromobilization

The nerves of our body glide and slide, stretch and are compressed. They move up and down in association with joint and muscle movement. As muscles stretch, so do nerves. As muscles contract, they compress nerves. Nerves are wrapped in connective tissue to support their structure and function and to protect them as well.

Our nerves are surprisingly strong and resilient and experience all these things in normal and healthy conditions. However, there are regions in our body where nerves are more vulnerable to experiencing excess compression, frictional irritation, and inflammation, resulting in sensitivity, pain, swelling, and loss of function (i.e. numbness, weakness).

There are a number of common conditions that result from aberrant forces (stretch, compression, friction), including:

  • Low back or Neck Injuries resulting in Sciatica (characterized by radiating leg pain) or Arm and Hand Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Pronator Teres Syndrome
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (most common variant of TOS results from excessive compression of the nerves)
  • Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Plantar Fasciopathy (is a tendinopathy, but, heel pain can also be caused by frictional irritation of the medial calcaneal nerve)
  • Occipital Neuralgia
  • Tunnel of Guyon Syndrome

We are experts at identifying, appropriately diagnosing, and treating dysfunction and conditions related to the nervous system.
